Description: Tenure-track position starting on September 1, 2013.
<p>
Qualifications: Applications are invited for a tenure-track position in APPLIED
MATHEMATICS and/or STATISTICS at the assistant or associate professor level,
beginning September 1, 2013. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in mathematics or
statistics and must demonstrate evidence of excellent teaching and research
potential. All areas in applied mathematics and/or statistical research will be
considered. The candidate must demonstrate an interest in teaching a broad range
of applied mathematics and/or statistics courses to a diverse body of students
and engage undergraduates in research. Interdisciplinary collaboration with
other faculty in the School is expected.
<p>
Teaching/Research: The teaching load is 2-3 5-unit courses per quarter, with
seven/year maximum. Almost all courses in the Department of Mathematics include
an activity/problem solving session. Assigned time for research and proposal
preparation is available during the first three years of appointment, and
subsequently on a competitive basis. It is expected the successful candidate
will develop a research agenda and maintain a publication record.
